Sunrise Powers Ahead: Secures CHF 139 Million Series A to Revolutionize Switzerland’s Telecom Landscape

Sunrise is thrilled to announce a successful funding round of 139,000,000, reinforcing its position as Switzerland’s largest non-state-controlled telecommunications provider.

Renowned for offering comprehensive mobile, Internet, TV, and landline services to both private and business customers, Sunrise continues to set industry benchmarks, propelled by a commitment to innovation and excellence.

With its pioneering 5G mobile network—the fastest and most reliable in the country—the company has transformed Swiss connectivity.

Sunrise became the first provider to introduce 5G in April 2019 and now provides high-speed 5G coverage to more than 713 cities and towns, with up to 2 Gbit/s speeds, and basic 5G services covering over 90% of the Swiss population.

Complementing its advanced 5G rollout, the company also offers superior 4G/LTE coverage across 96% of Switzerland, reaching 99.98% of the population and enabling 4G+ speeds of up to 900 Mbit/s.

The new capital injection will be strategically deployed to expand and enhance Sunrise’s already impressive state-of-the-art telecommunications network.

Investments will target further development of its nationwide 11,800 km fiber network, the exploration of next-generation fiber technologies such as vectoring, FTTS, FTTB, and FTTH, and continuous improvements in mobile technology.

This funding will also support initiatives that ensure Sunrise remains at the forefront of digital transformation, benefiting a diverse portfolio of high-profile customers ranging from Nestlé and Zurich Insurance Group to Swiss Post and Swiss International Air Lines.
