The ambitious vision of putting AI compute and data centers into orbit just got a financial boost. Sophia Space, the company developing this extraterrestrial data processing concept, has raised $7.0M from a syndicate of investors including EverGreen, NVIDIA Alumni Investment Network, and SparkLabs Group.
Sophia Space's core mission is to build orbital compute and data centers designed to process AI workloads closer to where data is collected. This approach promises to deliver critical insights faster to where they are needed on Earth, addressing latency challenges inherent in traditional ground-based processing.
