Shiply, the online marketplace that matches people needing to move goods with transport companies already on route, has secured an $80K grant. Founded in 2008, the platform tackles the significant inefficiency of the transport industry, where over a quarter of lorries run completely empty.
By enabling consumers and businesses to tap into this spare capacity, Shiply aims to dramatically cut CO2 emissions, increase profitability for transport companies, and save consumers up to 75%. The model functions much like an eBay for logistics, allowing users to list items and receive competitive bids from thousands of rated carriers.
