In classical web search (think ten-blue-links), the user is the final reranker. They skim titles and snippets, click the one that looks right, and ignore the other nine at no cost, acting as a nearly free relevance filter. For an AI agent, that filter is gone.

Whatever lands in the context window is read and acted on. Every retrieved token costs money and latency, and irrelevant content dilutes attention and can ground the agent's next action in wrong information.
