Harnessing the incredible smell receptors of insects, New Zealand-based Scentian Bio has secured $3.9M in a pre-series a funding round for its biosensor technology. The startup is developing super-sensitive, real-time measurement tools for smell and taste, designed to detect and quantify volatile organic compounds.
Scentian Bio's solutions are being developed for key use cases spanning food and flavors, logistics, pest control, and human health. Its food and flavor offering, for example, aims to provide assurance of product contents, enabling quick quality control checks for taints, mal-odours, or residues.
