SBNC Secures $250,000 in Grant Round to Combat Student Basic Needs Crisis

The Student Basic Needs Coalition (SBNC) is thrilled to announce that we have successfully raised $250,000 to further our mission of combating the basic needs crisis faced by college students across the nation.

This funding will play a crucial role in enhancing our three-pronged approach that focuses on SNAP Enrollment, Campus Education, and Advocacy, enabling us to reach and support even more students facing food, housing, and financial insecurities.

Since our inception as a student organization at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2019, we have grown into a national non-profit that has impacted over 90,000 students through strategic partnerships and local advocacy efforts across 25 states.

This newfound capital will allow us to expand our educational initiatives and strengthen our campaigns for systemic change, ensuring that students can fully dedicate themselves to their academic pursuits without the distress caused by basic needs insecurity.

With the ongoing support of organizations like the Annie E.

Casey Foundation, Walmart Foundation, and Ben and Jerry’s Foundation, we remain committed to empowering student leaders and raising awareness about the critical issues at hand.

We are excited about the opportunity this funding presents as we continue to create a comprehensive system of support that paves the way for college students to thrive.
