Finland’s VTT Technical Research Centre has spun out a startup chasing a critical bottleneck in quantum computing hardware. S-transistors has raised $3.0M in a pre-seed round backed by Lifeline Ventures and an angel investor, the company said.
The startup is developing superconducting transistors, which it describes as the missing piece for scaling up quantum computers and AI systems without the energy penalty of current approaches. The funding arrives as quantum hardware remains largely experimental, with few players tackling the transistor-level components needed for practical, large-scale machines.
