Replicas has raised $4.0M in seed funding to build out its background coding agent, which turns tickets into pull requests. The round drew Y Combinator, Flex Capital, Founders Co-Op, Paul Graham, and Zeno Rocha.
The company's bet is that as LLMs get more capable and autonomous, engineers will increasingly delegate work to isolated agents rather than do everything themselves. Replicas spins up coding agents with their own virtual machine and a development environment defined in code, dependencies, and tooling - so an engineer can hand off a task the way they would to a colleague and come back to a finished PR.
