The circular economy of food just got a fresh infusion of capital. Oakland-based Renewal Mill, an award-winning ingredient company that upcycles food manufacturing byproducts, has closed its Series A funding round, securing $1.5M.
Founded in 2016, the woman-owned business is known for transforming materials like soybean pulp into high-fiber, high-protein organic okara flour. Named a World Changing Idea by Fast Company, Renewal Mill aims to be a leading supplier for sustainable, upcycled ingredients, tackling the world's $1.2 trillion food waste problem.
