Redx Pharma has raised $36.0M in a Series A round backed by Abingworth, a bet on the clinical-stage biotech’s pipeline of small-molecule drugs targeting cancer and fibrotic diseases. The Cheshire-based company, which operates out of the UK’s largest single-site life science campus at Alderley Park, is pushing forward with three lead candidates: zelasudil, a ROCK2 inhibitor in Phase 2 for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis; RXC008, a GI-targeted pan-ROCK inhibitor that entered Phase 1 for fibrostenotic Crohn’s disease; and zamaporvint, a Porcupine inhibitor in Phase 2 for oncology. The fresh capital arrives as Redx leans on its medicinal chemistry and translational science strengths to differentiate itself in crowded therapeutic areas, though the company has not detailed how the funds will be deployed.
