PharmNovo, the clinical-stage pharmaceutical company developing drugs for neuropathic pain, has secured $3.7M in new investment capital. The funding will advance its lead candidate, PN6047, which is now Phase II ready.
PN6047 has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing neuropathic pain in animal models and completed a safe Phase I trial. Crucially, it exhibited none of the adverse events typically associated with conventional opioids like oxycodone and morphine, such as respiratory depression, constipation, itching, or signs of abuse potential. This validates its unique preclinical profile, which shows it acts extremely selectively on the delta opioid receptor, distinguishing it fundamentally from conventional opioids that target the mu opioid receptor.
