Paleo has raised $2.3M in seed funding, with Beyond Impact leading the round. The company is taking a different angle on the alternative-protein space: instead of building plant-based burgers from scratch, it brews the heme proteins that make those products taste and behave more like actual meat.
Paleo uses yeast fermentation to produce animal-identical heme proteins, skipping livestock entirely. The pitch to food manufacturers is straightforward-same flavor, texture, and nutrition as the real thing, but without the animals, antibiotics, or heavy environmental toll. The fresh capital will help Paleo push its fermentation process forward as it looks to accelerate the shift toward protein alternatives.
