On Track for Innovation: LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency Secures $27M Funding Round to Boost Coastal Rail Excellence

The LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency is thrilled to announce that it has successfully raised $27,000,000 in funding, marking a significant milestone in its mission to advance rail transportation along the coastal corridor connecting San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Luis Obispo.

Established in 1989, this joint powers authority has long been dedicated to increasing ridership, revenue, capacity, reliability, coordination, and safety on one of the nation’s most vital rail lines.

Governed by an 11-member Board of Directors composed of elected officials representing rail owners, operators, and planning agencies along the corridor, the agency works tirelessly to deliver results that benefit commuters and enhance regional connectivity.

Staffed by the expertise of the Orange County Transportation Authority, LOSSAN’s strategic approach combines innovative planning with collaborative oversight to ensure that all initiatives are both cost-effective and forward-thinking.

This infusion of capital will primarily be allocated toward bolstering service quality and expanding operational capabilities, particularly for the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service, for which the agency assumed administrative and oversight responsibility in 2015.

With these funds, LOSSAN plans to implement key projects aimed at reducing operational bottlenecks and enhancing the safety and efficiency of rail operations.
