Numeric Secures $28 Million in Series A Funding to Empower South African Youth in Mathematics Education

We are thrilled to announce that Numeric has successfully raised an impressive $28 million in our latest funding round, paving the way for an expanded impact on the educational landscape in South Africa.

For a small team of dedicated individuals, this milestone is a significant leap towards our mission of empowering young South Africans to excel in mathematics, which is a cornerstone for future academic and career opportunities in today’s tech-driven world.

Alarmingly, only 2% of children who started school in 2019 completed matric with a solid understanding of mathematics.

Our approach is tackling this challenge head-on by focusing on Grade 7 learners and providing them with crucial after-school maths classes.

Additionally, we invest in the future of education through our year-long teaching internship program for pre-service teachers, ensuring a pipeline of passionate educators.

Currently, we operate 45 dynamic after-school programs in Cape Town and Johannesburg, engaging over 2,400 learners and employing 98 active coaches.

The funding will allow us to scale our operations and reach even more learners who require intensive support in mathematics.

Our programs, rooted in the understanding that many South African children face gaps in their foundational maths education, provide an accelerated curriculum focused on arithmetic and pre-algebra.

With this boost in resources, we are excited to continue nurturing both learners and aspiring teachers, equipping them with the skills needed to bridge educational divides and thrive in mathematical disciplines.
