MUNCH Raises $5M in Series A Funding: Igniting a New Era for Edvard Munch’s Legacy in Oslo

MUNCH, the home of the world’s largest collection of works by the iconic Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, recently announced a major funding milestone by raising 5,000,000.

This incredible achievement not only highlights the continued trust and faith that investors and supporters have in the museum’s vision but also marks an exciting new chapter for one of Oslo’s cultural treasures.

Opened on October 22, 2021, the museum is housed in a bespoke building on Oslo’s waterfront, designed with impeccable attention to detail by estudio Herreros.

At its heart, MUNCH boasts more than 26,000 artworks bequeathed to the City of Oslo, including those by Edvard Munch as well as collections donated by esteemed figures such as Rolf Stenersen, Amaldus Nielsen, and Ludvig Ravensberg.

The newly acquired funding will significantly boost the museum’s efforts to enhance its expansive art and cultural programming across its thirteen floors.

Investments will be directed toward innovative exhibition designs and interactive experiences that trace Edvard Munch’s profound influence on modern art and his enduring legacy.

The funds will also help expand temporary exhibition spaces, allowing the museum to showcase contemporary interpretations of Munch’s work alongside its iconic permanent collection.
