Kynexis, a biotech company focused on restoring cognitive function for people living with brain diseases, has secured a $40.0M Series A funding round. The capital will advance its lead candidate, KYN-5356, a first-in-class KAT-II inhibitor designed to lower elevated kynurenic acid (KYNA), a key driver of cognitive impairment in disorders like schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease.
The round saw participation from Novartis Venture Fund, Forbion, Ysios Capital, and Sunstone Life Science Ventures. KYN-5356 is currently in a Phase 2 clinical trial for cognitive impairment associated with schizophrenia (CIAS), with development expanding into Alzheimer's disease.
