Quona Capital has put $8.4M into JEM Management, a Fresno, CA-based operator of restaurants and regional ventures in real estate and agriculture. The Series A round marks a notable bet on a company that straddles three very different industries under one roof.
JEM Management runs restaurants while also managing holdings in property and farming, a mix that’s less common in venture-backed portfolios. Quona, known for backing financial inclusion plays, is the sole investor here, though the firm’s rationale beyond the capital isn’t disclosed. The funding gives JEM room to expand, though specifics on where that money lands remain under wraps.
