UroGen Pharma is putting $7.0M into IntraGel Therapeutics, a seed-stage bet on a drug-delivery platform that aims to make long-acting injections less of a hassle for patients.
IntraGel’s technology, called SRGel, is a solvent-free, lipophilic gel that forms a stable depot under the skin, releasing small molecules, peptides, or biologics over weeks or months. The pitch is that it avoids the injection-site pain, viscosity issues, and bulky device requirements that plague existing depot formulations. The company’s focus is on taking already-approved therapeutics and reformulating them into longer-lasting, better-tolerated versions. UroGen, a urology-focused drugmaker, is the sole backer here, which suggests a strategic interest in the platform’s potential for its own pipeline.
