InRisk Labs has raised $27.0M in a Series A round backed by Bessemer Venture Partners and Northpoint Capital, a bet on a newer approach to insurance that shifts from reacting to disasters to pricing them before they strike.
The company builds what it calls Smart Index Insurance, using data-driven models to assess and mitigate risks tied to climate events, market swings, and other extreme shocks. Rather than traditional claims-based coverage, the product aims to give businesses a more proactive way to manage exposure. The fresh capital gives InRisk Labs runway to push that model further, though the company hasn't detailed specific expansion plans yet.
