Igniting Creative Connections: VisArts Lands New Funding to Expand Community Arts Programs

We’re excited to share an important update from VisArts, Montgomery County’s largest visual arts center, where for almost 35 years our passion has united communities with vibrant creative experiences.

In our latest funding announcement, we revealed that we have raised $0 in new monetary contributions—not because our work isn’t valued, but as a clear reminder that our mission thrives on the strength of community partnerships, in-kind support, and our enduring commitment to transforming lives through art.

Despite the absence of new funds in this round, we view this moment as an opportunity to reaffirm our dedication to fostering a truly connected community enriched by diverse artistic expression.

At our facility in Rockville Town Square, over 30,000 annual visitors experience art in all its forms, from hands-on classes in ceramics, glass, drawing, painting, and sculpture to dynamic contemporary art exhibitions in our galleries.

Our Studio Artist Program continues to offer vital space and time for artists to pursue creative endeavors while our VisAbility Art Lab empowers emerging artists with disabilities through workforce and interpersonal skills training.

Moreover, our outreach programs, partnering with organizations like the Mattie J.T.

Stepanek Foundation, Main Street Connect, Nourish Now, and Interfaith Works, ensure that art is accessible for seniors, homeless individuals, low-income families, children facing serious illness, and wounded veterans.

While no additional funds were raised this time, the purpose behind our ongoing financial strategy remains clear: to reinvest our existing resources into expanding access, deepening our community programs, and enhancing our service offerings.

We believe that every initiative we undertake strengthens our inclusive mission and underscores the transformative power of the visual arts, uniting people of all identities, abilities, and backgrounds.
