Point72 Private Investments is putting $75.0M into HUBX, a Series A bet on a marketplace that says it moved $200M in goods within its first year of operation. The platform, live since May 2018, lets manufacturers and brands sell excess inventory anonymously to vetted B2B buyers worldwide, a twist on the secondary distribution trade that HUBX claims is a trillion-dollar market.
The capital arrives with HUBX already counting customers across 101 countries. Its pitch is straightforward: give sellers marketplace-grade tools to offload stock at or below wholesale prices, while buyers get access to top brands without the usual middleman friction. Point72’s backing adds a notable name to a space that’s often fragmented and opaque, though HUBX’s early traction suggests it’s found a workable model.
