Helicon has raised $16.0M in seed funding to build American factories for mass-producing composite parts used in unmanned systems. AlleyCorp led the round.
The company's pitch rests on a manufacturing gap: composite components for drones and other unmanned platforms are typically made slowly and in small batches, and Helicon wants to change that with domestic production at scale. The seed round gives it capital to pursue that buildout, though the company hasn't said how many facilities it plans or where they'll be located.
