Grubel has raised $3.5M in pre-seed funding to build out its bet that AI specialization can be automated. The research lab argues that today's approach - run, inspect, patch, run again - is manual, repetitive work that doesn't scale.
The round drew Point Nine alongside a group of angel investors: Jeff Dean, Chris Ré, Ion Stoica, Gabe Pereyra, and Winston Weinberg. Grubel's vision is a future where every matter builds its own AI, one that knows its world and does the best possible work within it. Its approach folds data curation, adaptation, and evaluation into a specialization loop that trains and improves on the matter itself.
