A fresh $6.5M seed round is set to propel Goldenrod Therapeutics' mission to tackle serious neurological conditions with a new class of medicine. The biotech startup, which is developing treatments for ailments including Friedreich's ataxia and other neurodegenerative diseases, announced the funding from investors Ataxia Ventures and Fannin Partners.
Goldenrod's approach refines an established biological pathway in the brain, aiming to overcome the side effects that hampered earlier treatments. By achieving meaningful drug exposure in the brain while maintaining a favorable safety profile, the company hopes to open the door to new options for millions of patients currently with few or no good choices.
