Firelight Protocol has raised $8.0M in seed funding, a bet that digital asset risk management needs more than just insurance against hacks. Gumi Cryptos Capital and Maven 11 led the round, backing the startup’s focus on covering major economic and technical risks-think smart contract failures or market-wide disruptions-that traditional coverage often sidesteps.
The capital arrives as crypto institutions increasingly demand protection beyond basic theft policies, and Firelight’s pitch is that its protocol can price and underwrite these complex exposures more nimbly than legacy players. With the seed in hand, the team is positioned to build out its coverage infrastructure, though specifics on rollout remain under wraps.
