Addressing the significant mental health challenges faced by menopausal women, Estrigenix Therapeutics, Inc. has closed a $2.0M seed funding round. The pharmaceutical company is developing next-generation therapies designed to improve cognitive function, mood, and anxiety without the serious side effects linked to traditional estrogen treatments like increased risks of cancer, heart disease, and stroke.
Estrigenix's approach centers on selectively activating specific estrogen receptor proteins that promote memory and emotional well-being. Its lead compound, EGX-358, has already shown promise in enhancing memory formation in a mouse model of menopause and is being explored for broader applications including depression, anxiety, and hot flashes.
