Empowering Patient Care: WWL Secures £2M Grant to Drive Healthcare Excellence

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is proud to announce a significant funding milestone, having recently raised £2,000,000 to further enhance the quality of care provided to its diverse patient base.

As the leading provider of acute hospital services for over 318,000 local residents in the Wigan Borough and surrounding areas, WWL is dedicated to ensuring that every patient receives timely, effective, and compassionate care.

This newly secured investment will accelerate the Trust’s ongoing efforts to improve patient safety, service quality, and operational efficiency across its numerous sites including the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wrightington Hospital, Leigh Infirmary, the Thomas Linacre Centre, and the WWL Eye Unit at Boston House.

The additional funds will be strategically directed towards upgrading essential medical equipment, expanding advanced treatment facilities, and integrating innovative technology that supports both the diagnostic and therapeutic processes.

These enhancements are particularly crucial for specialist services, such as orthopaedic care, where WWL’s reputation extends regionally, nationally, and internationally.
