In an unusual move for a company of its scale, Duke Energy Corporation, one of America’s largest energy holding companies, has secured $2.7M in pre-seed funding. The Fortune 150 firm, headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., provides electricity to 8.4 million customers and natural gas to 1.7 million customers across multiple states.
This capital infusion arrives as Duke Energy pushes forward with an ambitious clean energy transition. The company is investing in major electric grid upgrades and cleaner generation, working towards net-zero methane emissions from its natural gas business by 2030 and net-zero carbon emissions from electricity generation by 2050.
