Datrium has raised $55.0M in a Series C round led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), a bet that the company’s pitch for rethinking disaster recovery will resonate as more enterprises move workloads to the cloud.
The startup sells a Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) offering built for VMware Cloud on AWS, with a cloud-native design that folds in backup, instant recovery, and an on-demand pricing model. Its Automatrix platform also converges DR, backup, primary storage, mobility, and encryption into a single system, while its DVX hyperconverged infrastructure product claims 10x the performance of traditional setups. The fresh capital arrives as legacy DR tools and standalone backup software face growing pressure from simpler, cloud-centric alternatives.
