cylib GmbH, a research-based company for holistic battery recycling, has secured $90,000,000 in a new funding round. This significant capital infusion will enable the company to accelerate its mission of enabling the green energy transition by ensuring the supply of sustainable raw materials for the battery industry. The funding underscores investor confidence in cylib's innovative approach to addressing critical supply chain challenges in the rapidly growing electric vehicle and energy storage sectors.
Founded in 2022 in Aachen, Germany, cylib GmbH builds on nearly a decade of research by its founding team, Dr. Lilian Schwich, Paul Sabarny, and Dr. Gideon Schwich. The company’s proprietary end-to-end recycling process is characterized by an efficient, resource- and climate-friendly recovery of all raw materials present in batteries. This includes crucial elements like lithium, graphite, nickel, cobalt, and manganese, which are extracted from various sources such as battery packs, production scraps, and micromobility batteries. This method offers a sustainable alternative to conventional raw material sourcing.
The newly raised capital will be instrumental in supporting cylib's ambitious growth initiatives. The company plans to use the funds to scale its proprietary recycling technology, further develop its processes, and expand its operational footprint. By enhancing its capacity and reach, cylib aims to meet the increasing demand for responsibly sourced battery materials and strengthen its position as a leader in the circular economy for batteries. This investment is poised to advance cylib's goal of creating a true circular economy, addressing the global need for sustainable raw materials to power the future.
