Brighton Table Tennis Club (BTTC) has successfully secured $146K in a recent funding round, marking a significant investment in its community and sporting initiatives. The organization, founded in February 2007, began with a vision to use table tennis as a powerful tool for engagement and life transformation across all age groups.

Today, BTTC operates from its dedicated centre in Kemptown and manages 100 tables across Brighton, reaching diverse locations including parks, schools, sheltered housing schemes, and a centre for homeless people. The club engages over 1,250 individuals weekly, encompassing people with learning and physical disabilities, young people from the Brighton Travellers site, Looked After Children, members of the LGBT community, and young asylum seekers. Recognized as the world’s first Club of Sanctuary for its work with refugees, BTTC is a registered charity that has brought over £300,000 into the city to support youth and community work and create local jobs.

Beyond its extensive community outreach, BTTC is also a centre of sporting excellence. It fields two teams in the Senior British League, eight teams in the Brighton League, and numerous Junior teams. Its members have achieved notable success, including Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in the UK Down’s National Championship, and a Gold medal at the 2017 World Championships for players with Down’s Syndrome. This new capital infusion will enable BTTC to strengthen its existing programs and expand its reach, ensuring continued support for its diverse participant base.

The $146K in funding will be instrumental in supporting BTTC's ongoing operations and furthering its mission to foster health, well-being, and community cohesion through sport. The club plans to utilize these funds for growth initiatives, enhancing its facilities, and developing new programs that continue to bring people together and transform lives across Brighton and beyond.
