We are thrilled to announce that Ignite Reading has successfully raised $36 million in our latest funding round, a significant milestone that will further fuel our mission to enhance literacy among K–8th graders across the United States. As reported by the National Assessment of Educational Progress, only 33% of U.S. fourth graders and 31% of eighth graders are reading at grade level, highlighting a persistent and urgent need for effective educational interventions. Ignite Reading aims to bridge this gap by providing personalized, one-to-one virtual tutoring that is grounded in the Science of Reading. Our program connects students with expert reading tutors for daily, 15-minute sessions, designed to build the foundational skills necessary for confident and fluent reading. Remarkably, our approach has proven effective for students of all backgrounds, including those with IEPs, multilingual learners, and students from low-income households. After just 14 weeks of tutoring, students achieving proficiency in reading, as measured by the DIBELS assessment, jumped from 11% to 45%. This funding will allow us to expand our reach, enhance our tutoring platform, and further develop resources for educators and families alike. As Claudia Salvestrin, Assistant Superintendent of the Red Bluff Union Elementary School District in California, stated, “Ignite Reading is one of the most, if not the most, successful interventions we have implemented in our district.” With this support, we are more committed than ever to empowering young readers, ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive in school and beyond.
