Bindery Books has secured $1.3 million in funding to advance its mission of empowering online book tastemakers. The company is building a dedicated platform for these influential individuals, who have increasingly demonstrated their ability to ignite bestsellers and drive interest in overlooked titles, often leading to TV and movie adaptations. Bindery Books believes these tastemakers are crucial for cultivating a more creative, independent, and equitable book industry.
The platform aims to provide online book tastemakers with tools to deepen their engagement with audiences, foster community, and generate income from their literary influence. Ultimately, Bindery Books intends to enable these tastemakers to publish tomorrow’s most beloved books. The company was co-founded by Matt Kaye, whose background includes roles as Head of Product at Patreon and Amazon Books PM, and Meg Harvey, former Chief Strategy Officer at Girl Friday Productions, an independent publishing services company. Their combined experience spans product development, growth, and publishing strategy.
This investment capital will be used to further develop Bindery Books' platform, expand its operational capabilities, and grow its team. The funding round underscores the growing recognition of the value that online communities and independent voices bring to the publishing landscape. Bindery Books is poised to accelerate its efforts in building a robust ecosystem where world-changing stories can emerge from diverse sources, fostering a culture that is as purposeful and compassionate as the communities it serves.
