Aerospace hardware startup Astromech has raised $20.0M in a new funding round, with backing from a syndicate of genomics-focused venture funds alongside investors Bob Nelsen, NeoGenesis Capital, and Builders VC.
The company builds high-precision drones, CubeSat systems, and flight computers designed for missions ranging from ground-level industrial use to low-Earth orbit. Astromech emphasizes minimal, robust engineering for its autonomous drone platforms, modular small-sat hardware, and secure avionics built for extreme environments. The round’s investor mix-anchored by life-science-focused capital-adds an unusual crossover angle to the aerospace sector, though the company has not detailed how the fresh funds will be deployed.
