The race for compact, on-demand neutron production just got a $30.2M boost, as Bristol-based Astral Systems announced its Series A funding round. The 2021-founded company is developing Multi-State Fusion (MSF) reactors, leveraging cutting-edge discoveries from NASA to create high-flux neutron sources.
Astral Systems' technology aims to serve applications from decentralised medical isotope production to nuclear power. Its first Mk1 product, now available for order, boasts a fusion neutron performance with 10x higher output and over 10x longer lifetime than any compact neutron source currently available.
