Antora Energy has raised $550.0M in a Series C round, a hefty infusion for a company betting that thermal batteries-not just lithium-ion-can crack the industrial decarbonization problem. The startup builds factory-made thermal storage systems that convert renewable electricity into heat, then dispatch it as needed to power heavy industrial processes around the clock.
The round lands as manufacturers face mounting pressure to cut emissions without sacrificing reliability or cost. Antora’s pitch is that its modular batteries can plug into existing facilities, delivering both heat and power at a price competitive with fossil fuels. The company says it’s scaling up production in California to meet demand from industrial customers of varying sizes, though specifics on deployment timelines or backers were not disclosed.
