1.3 Million Reasons to Move: East Bierley Community Sports Association Transforms Local Playing Fields

East Bierley Community Sports Association (EBSCA), a dedicated organization committed to giving our community the ability to be more active, more often, is thrilled to announce that we have raised an impressive £1,300,000 to transform our beloved sporting facilities.

Since our founding in 2012 and our attainment of charity status in 2016, we have strived to create safe, modern, and accessible venues where current and future players can feel proud of their home.

Born out of the collaboration between Birkenshaw ARLFC and Hunsworth FC, our journey began with a simple yet powerful vision: to address substandard facilities and create an environment that truly supports community sporting aspirations.

For too long, our players endured changing rooms that fell far below acceptable standards, and spectators raised concerns about unsafe perimeter fencing.

Recognizing that enough was enough, our committee—comprised of club representatives and passionate independent volunteers—launched an ambitious endeavor to fund the redevelopment of East Bierley Playing Fields.

With robust support from grants offered by Sport England, the Football Federation, Locality, the Big Lottery, and the Spen & Batley District Committee, along with a forward-thinking asset transfer and a six-figure business loan, we achieved a model financial plan that not only secured the funds necessary for phase one but also set a milestone as the first community organization in Kirklees to complete such a combined transfer.

The £1,300,000 raised will be dedicated to constructing state-of-the-art changing rooms, enhancing the safety and accessibility of the playing fields, and fostering a calendar full of community events that will help repay the loan—all paving the way toward a future where our sporting community thrives.
