Meter has acquired WiredScore, the internationally recognised digital connectivity and smart building rating systems provider for real estate, for an undisclosed amount. This corporate acquisition sees Meter take ownership of WiredScore, which helps landlords design and promote buildings with powerful digital connectivity and smart capabilities through its WiredScore and SmartScore certifications.
WiredScore was founded in New York in 2013 to improve the city’s technology infrastructure. Following success in the US, it expanded to the United Kingdom in 2015 and has since grown operations across North America, Europe, and South East Asia. The company works with over 900 clients across the real estate industry, with over 800 million square feet of commercial and residential space committed to WiredScore certification, impacting 8 million people across 39 countries.
The acquisition is strategically aimed at integrating WiredScore’s established certification expertise with Meter’s operational capabilities. This move is expected to create a more comprehensive offering for the real estate sector, combining the assessment and validation of building technology with the potential for enhanced implementation or management services. The synergy lies in providing a holistic solution that spans from defining smart building standards to potentially delivering the underlying infrastructure.
This strategic alignment is anticipated to accelerate the adoption of advanced digital infrastructure and smart building technologies globally. The combined entity is poised to offer a more integrated approach to developing and managing high-performance buildings, ensuring that real estate assets meet evolving demands for connectivity and intelligence.
