ENGIE Polska has acquired Volvo Energy for an undisclosed amount, taking full ownership of the Polish energy firm. The transaction, completed following regulatory approval, transfers all of Volvo Energy’s assets and operations to the French utility’s Polish subsidiary. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Volvo Energy operates in Poland’s growing battery storage sector, offering a competitive Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) that delivers reliable power to commercial and industrial clients. Its technology helps customers optimize energy costs and strengthen operational resilience, while also supporting the integration of renewable energy sources. ENGIE Polska, a major player in the Polish energy market, provides electricity, natural gas, and energy services to businesses and municipalities across the country.
The acquisition gives ENGIE Polska immediate access to Volvo Energy’s BESS technology and its existing customer base, allowing the company to expand its portfolio of flexible energy solutions. As Poland accelerates its transition toward low-carbon power generation, battery storage has become a critical component for balancing intermittent renewables like wind and solar. By integrating Volvo Energy’s capabilities, ENGIE Polska can offer more comprehensive energy management packages to its clients, particularly those seeking to reduce exposure to volatile wholesale prices.
For Volvo Energy, the deal provides the financial backing and operational scale of a large international group, which could accelerate the deployment of its storage systems across additional markets. The company will continue to operate under its existing brand, with its team remaining in place to ensure continuity for customers.
The combined entity is positioned to strengthen its foothold in Poland’s energy storage market, where demand is expected to rise as grid operators and businesses seek greater flexibility. ENGIE Polska’s broader distribution network and engineering expertise may also open new opportunities for Volvo Energy’s technology beyond its current scope.
