Industrial Physics has acquired Vitrek, LLC for an undisclosed amount, adding the Illinois-based test and measurement specialist to its portfolio of physical testing brands. The deal brings together Industrial Physics’ established position in material and package testing with Vitrek’s expertise in electrical safety and high-speed data acquisition.
Vitrek, known for its MTI and GaGe brand lines, manufactures equipment for electrical safety testing, solar system validation, vibration balancing, and signal recording. Its customer base spans aerospace, automotive, medical devices, military and defense, semiconductor, and consumer electronics sectors. Industrial Physics, a global provider of physical testing instruments, serves packaging, paper, and other industrial markets. The acquisition broadens its reach into electrical and electronic testing, a segment that has grown with the rise of electric vehicles and renewable energy systems.
The strategic rationale centers on complementary capabilities. Industrial Physics gains access to Vitrek’s specialized engineering and its established relationships in regulated industries where precision and compliance are critical. For Vitrek, joining a larger group provides access to a broader distribution network and shared research and development resources. Both companies expect to cross-sell products to their respective customer bases, particularly in areas where mechanical and electrical testing overlap, such as battery enclosures and electronic component durability.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the coming months, subject to customary conditions. Post-acquisition, Vitrek will operate as a distinct unit within Industrial Physics, retaining its brand names and existing support teams. The combined entity will offer a wider range of testing solutions, from physical stress analysis to electrical safety verification, positioning it to serve customers with more integrated quality assurance needs.
