OpenWorld has acquired VerifyMe for an undisclosed amount, according to an announcement from the two companies. The transaction transfers ownership of VerifyMe and its subsidiary, PeriShip, to OpenWorld.
VerifyMe operates in brand protection and precision logistics, offering technologies intended to help businesses authenticate products and manage shipping for perishable and non-perishable goods. Its PeriShip subsidiary focuses on logistics services for the food and healthcare industries, where timing and product integrity are critical. OpenWorld gains a company whose operations combine authentication tools with shipping technology aimed at reducing costs and protecting brand value.
The acquisition gives OpenWorld control of VerifyMe’s existing product authentication and logistics capabilities. VerifyMe’s work addresses two related needs for its customers: confirming that products are genuine and moving temperature-sensitive or time-sensitive shipments through complex supply chains. Bringing these functions under OpenWorld’s ownership could allow the combined company to offer customers a more integrated set of services across brand protection and logistics.
OpenWorld did not disclose the purchase price or other financial terms. VerifyMe is a publicly traded company listed on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol VRME, and the acquisition means its business now sits within OpenWorld rather than operating as an independent public entity.
The combined company will face the task of integrating VerifyMe’s authentication and logistics operations with OpenWorld’s existing business. How effectively the two organizations combine their technologies and customer relationships will determine whether the acquisition produces the operational benefits OpenWorld is seeking.
