EION Wireless has acquired Terradot for an undisclosed amount. Terradot, founded out of the Stanford ecosystem, specializes in Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW), an innovative approach that accelerates Earth’s natural process of silicate rock weathering to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The company addresses the extraordinary scientific, technological, and operational challenges of scaling ERW, particularly through its ambitious hub in Brazil. This hub focuses on driving breakthroughs in ERW science, ensuring every tonne of carbon dioxide removed is measured and tracked with certainty, and developing digital tools for project optimization and verification.
This acquisition represents EION Wireless's strategic expansion into the climate technology sector, leveraging Terradot's deep expertise in carbon removal. Terradot's team comprises leading scientists and engineers with decades of published research and hands-on experience in related fields, providing an unmatched foundation for advancing this critical climate solution. The strategic rationale centers on Terradot's potential to transform existing agricultural and silicate rock sites, namely 5,000+ global silicate rock quarries surrounded by agricultural land, into carbon removal hubs. Initial efforts in Brazil are demonstrating the viability of scaling this technology.
The combination is expected to significantly accelerate Terradot's mission to catalyze global-scale carbon removal. By integrating Terradot's scientific advancements and operational models, the combined entity aims to rapidly replicate ERW hubs, transforming thousands of quarries worldwide into effective carbon removal sites. This strategic alignment is poised to drive the necessary breakthroughs for measuring and tracking CO2 removal with certainty, enabling the widespread adoption and verification of enhanced rock weathering projects. The combined entity will focus on scaling these solutions globally, building on Terradot's foundational work to address the urgency of climate change.
