Journey Beyond has acquired SeaLink Marine & Tourism for an undisclosed amount, significantly expanding its portfolio of Australian experiential travel offerings. SeaLink Marine & Tourism, previously part of the ASX-listed Kelsian Group, is known for delivering ferry, cruise, and cultural experiences across various iconic Australian destinations, from Kangaroo Island to the Whitsundays.
SeaLink’s extensive operations include ferry services to key islands such as Kangaroo Island, K’gari (Fraser Island), Rottnest Island, and Magnetic Island, alongside ferry transport on the Brisbane River. Its offerings also encompass cruises on Sydney Harbour, the Murray River, and the Whitsundays, as well as accommodation on K’gari. The company further provides coach tours across regions like Kangaroo Island and the Barossa Valley, and distinctive cultural experiences including the Tiwi by Design Tour and K’gari’s Illumina light show. SeaLink emphasizes creating safe, welcoming, and sustainable experiences deeply connected to local communities and First Nations culture.
This acquisition is a strategic move for Journey Beyond, allowing it to broaden its footprint in the Australian tourism sector and diversify its range of travel experiences. The integration of SeaLink’s marine and land-based operations will enhance Journey Beyond’s capacity to offer comprehensive travel packages, combining transport, accommodation, and cultural immersion. The synergy is expected to strengthen Journey Beyond’s position in the experiential tourism market by adding a robust network of ferry and cruise services, alongside established regional tours and cultural programs.
The combined entity is poised to offer an even more extensive and integrated suite of travel and tourism options across Australia. This strategic alignment aims to provide customers with a seamless and enriched journey, leveraging the strengths of both organizations to deliver memorable and sustainable experiences.
