Staffing and Recruiting

ALKU has acquired rockITdata for an undisclosed amount, a transaction that brings the veteran-owned technology consultancy into the fold of the larger staffing and solutions firm. The deal, finalized this week, transfers full ownership of rockITdata’s operations and client contracts to ALKU, marking the acquirer’s entry into the public sector technology space.

rockITdata, a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and minority- and woman-owned enterprise, specializes in modernizing healthcare, life sciences, and government systems. Its work focuses on agile implementation and data-driven solutions aimed at improving public sector efficiency and user experiences. ALKU, a specialized staffing and consulting company, has built its reputation on placing experts in niche IT and life sciences roles across commercial clients. The acquisition broadens ALKU’s reach into federal and state government contracts, a segment it had not previously served directly.

The strategic rationale centers on complementary capabilities. ALKU brings established recruiting infrastructure and a large network of technical talent, while rockITdata contributes deep domain expertise in government compliance, legacy system modernization, and a proven delivery model for public agencies. By absorbing rockITdata’s team and project pipeline, ALKU gains immediate credibility in a regulated market where certifications and past performance are critical. For rockITdata, the deal provides access to ALKU’s scale, back-office support, and broader client relationships, which could accelerate growth for its existing healthcare and life sciences work.

The combined entity will operate under ALKU’s corporate umbrella, with rockITdata’s leadership expected to remain in place to manage day-to-day delivery. No changes to existing client contracts or active projects have been announced. The acquisition also adds a certified veteran-owned business to ALKU’s portfolio, a distinction that may open doors to set-aside contracts within federal procurement.

With the transaction complete, the focus shifts to integration. ALKU will need to align rockITdata’s project-based consulting model with its own staffing-centric processes, while preserving the smaller firm’s agility. Success will depend on retaining key technical staff and demonstrating to government clients that service continuity remains intact. If executed smoothly, the deal positions the combined company to compete for larger, multi-year public sector engagements that neither firm could have pursued alone.
