Langmead Herbs

Langmead Herbs has acquired R&G FRESH, the UK’s leading fresh cut herb supplier, for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings together two established players in the British herb sector, with Langmead Herbs taking full ownership of the 60-year-old business, which includes its retail brand Nature’s Flavours.

R&G FRESH operates as a grower, packer, and distributor, supplying a comprehensive range of accredited herbs and fresh ingredients to national supermarket chains, wholesalers, restaurant groups, and food service organisations. The company is credited with pioneering the use of fresh herbs in the UK and is the founder of Nature’s Flavours, a branded range distinguished by its micro-perforated packaging. That packaging technology allows herbs to breathe more effectively, maintaining an optimal gas balance and extending shelf life and appearance, even at ambient temperatures.

Langmead Herbs, the acquiring party, is expected to integrate R&G FRESH’s sourcing network and customer base into its existing operations. The acquisition is positioned as a consolidation move within the fresh produce supply chain, giving Langmead Herbs a broader footprint across retail, wholesale, and food service channels. For R&G FRESH, the transaction provides access to Langmead Herbs’ operational scale and distribution infrastructure, which could support more efficient logistics and a wider reach for the Nature’s Flavours brand.

The strategic rationale centres on combining R&G FRESH’s long-standing market relationships and product range with Langmead Herbs’ production capabilities. Both companies share a focus on fresh, accredited produce, and the merger of their supply chains is likely to reduce overheads and strengthen negotiating power with large retail buyers. The micro-perforated packaging expertise held by R&G FRESH may also be applied more broadly across the combined entity’s product lines.

The combined business will operate across the full spectrum of the UK herb market, from growing and packing to branded retail supply. With R&G FRESH’s heritage and Nature’s Flavours’ established presence, the enlarged group is positioned to maintain continuity for existing customers while pursuing further efficiencies in sourcing and distribution. The transaction is expected to close following standard regulatory and administrative procedures.
