Sonic Automotive has acquired Porsche Walnut Creek, a dealership operated by the Fletcher Jones Company, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction adds the Northern California franchise to Sonic’s growing portfolio of luxury and import brands, which already includes BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi locations across the United States.
Porsche Walnut Creek, based in the East Bay area, is a full-service dealership offering new and pre-owned Porsche vehicles, along with parts, service, and financing. As part of the Fletcher Jones Company, it has operated with a focus on customer experience and brand representation. Sonic Automotive, a publicly traded Fortune 500 company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, ranks among the largest automotive retailers in the country, with more than 100 dealerships nationwide.
The acquisition aligns with Sonic’s stated strategy of expanding its presence in high-growth, affluent markets. Walnut Creek is a densely populated suburban region with strong demand for premium vehicles, and the Porsche brand continues to perform well in the luxury segment. By bringing Porsche Walnut Creek under its operational umbrella, Sonic gains access to a loyal customer base and a facility that already meets Porsche’s retail standards.
For the Fletcher Jones Company, the sale represents a divestiture of one of its key locations, allowing the family-owned group to focus on its remaining operations. Sonic plans to retain the existing staff and management team at Porsche Walnut Creek, which is expected to ease the transition for employees and customers alike. The dealership will continue to operate under the Porsche name, with Sonic providing back-office support and broader inventory allocation.
The combined entity is positioned to benefit from Sonic’s scale in logistics, marketing, and after-sales services, while maintaining the local relationships that Porsche Walnut Creek has built over the years. The deal is expected to close in the coming months, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Once finalized, the acquisition will add another premium location to Sonic’s West Coast footprint, supporting its long-term growth in the region.
