Sphere has acquired Polyex SAS, a French family-owned polyethylene converter, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction brings Polyex under Sphere’s ownership, marking the completion of a deal that expands the buyer’s footprint in industrial packaging and protective film solutions.
Polyex, founded in 1991, specializes in transforming polyethylene into films, covers, sleeves, and bags. The company supplies protective and packaging solutions across a range of industrial sectors, serving clients with custom and standard formats. As a family-run business, Polyex has built its reputation on close customer relationships and flexible production capabilities.
Sphere, the acquiring company, operates in the packaging and materials sector, focusing on integrated solutions for protective and logistical applications. The acquisition of Polyex adds dedicated polyethylene conversion capacity to Sphere’s existing operations, allowing the combined entity to offer a broader portfolio of film-based products. For Sphere, the deal strengthens its supply chain by bringing in-house a source of extruded films and bags, reducing reliance on third-party converters.
The strategic rationale centers on vertical integration and market reach. Polyex’s long-standing client base in sectors such as logistics, agriculture, and construction provides Sphere with new commercial channels. Conversely, Polyex gains access to Sphere’s larger distribution network and operational resources, which can support increased production volumes and service levels. The family-owned nature of Polyex is expected to remain an asset, preserving its customer-centric approach while benefiting from Sphere’s scale.
Post-acquisition, the combined entity is positioned to serve a wider range of packaging needs, from raw film to finished bags, under one roof. Integration efforts will likely focus on harmonizing production schedules and aligning quality standards across both facilities. The deal also opens possibilities for expanding Polyex’s product line into adjacent polyethylene applications, though no specific plans have been disclosed. For now, the focus remains on a smooth transition that maintains continuity for existing customers of both companies.
