Gulf Winds Credit Union has agreed to acquire Peoples Exchange Bank, according to a LinkedIn post. The post describes it as Gulf Winds' second proposed bank acquisition in two months. The amount was not disclosed in the sources.
The post states that if both transactions close, the soon-to-be TruWorth Credit Union expects to serve nearly 90,000 members across 16 branches, with more than $1.75 billion in assets.
The post notes that approval and integration are only the beginning, and that new accounts and branches do not automatically become primary financial relationships. It lists questions credit union leaders should ask: whether customers will understand the new brand, whether they can easily move direct deposit and recurring payments, and whether they will experience added value early enough to stay and deepen the relationship.
According to the post, the strongest integrations will measure more than converted accounts, tracking funding, direct deposit, debit activity, product adoption and retention. It adds that scale creates opportunity and consistent value earns loyalty.
