S&P Global has acquired OpenZeppelin for an undisclosed amount. This transaction integrates a leading provider of security solutions for onchain finance into S&P Global's extensive portfolio of financial information and analytics.
OpenZeppelin has operated for a decade as a trusted security partner for organizations bringing real value onchain, including DTCC, Fidelity Digital Assets, WisdomTree, and Coinbase. Since 2015, the company has secured more than $35 trillion in value transferred, delivering continuous security across architecture, build, security evaluation, and ongoing support. Its OpenZeppelin Contracts library is an industry standard, used to build 10 of the top 10 tokenized money market funds and 9 of the top 10 stablecoins by market cap.
The acquisition is intended to enhance S&P Global's capabilities within the rapidly evolving digital asset ecosystem. OpenZeppelin's deep expertise in smart contract security, combining world-class researcher expertise with AI-native workflows, will complement S&P Global's existing data and analytical offerings. OpenZeppelin's security services have delivered over 900 engagements and surfaced more than 10,000 vulnerabilities across critical onchain infrastructure, securing over $250 billion in onchain value. This integration aims to provide clients with more robust tools and insights for navigating the complexities of blockchain-based finance.
The combined entity is positioned to offer a comprehensive suite of services that bridge traditional financial intelligence with specialized onchain security. This strategic purchase strengthens S&P Global's ability to support the secure and transparent development of the digital economy, addressing the increasing demand for reliable infrastructure as financial institutions engage further with blockchain technology.
