Greenly has acquired Normative for $64.0 million, a transaction that brings the innovation consultancy under the ownership of the environmental data platform. The deal, which has been finalized, transfers all of Normative’s operations and client engagements to Greenly.
Normative, founded in 2008, is a full-service innovation firm that helps leaders design what’s next. The company blends strategy, design, and technology to solve problems with a human-centered lens, working with large organizations and startups to turn early-stage concepts into customer-focused strategies and minimum viable products. Greenly, for its part, provides tools for businesses to measure and manage their carbon footprint, offering data-driven insights for sustainability reporting.
The acquisition is driven by a need to expand Greenly’s service offering beyond software into hands-on advisory work. Normative’s expertise in product development and strategic design gives Greenly a way to support clients earlier in their transformation journeys, particularly those seeking to embed sustainability into new offerings from the ground up. For Normative, the deal provides access to Greenly’s established client base and data infrastructure, which could accelerate the deployment of its design and technology services at a larger scale.
Post-acquisition, Normative’s team is expected to operate as a distinct unit within Greenly, preserving its existing client relationships while integrating with Greenly’s platform. The combined entity will aim to offer a more complete package: from initial idea validation through to carbon measurement and reporting. This positions the merged company to address a broader range of corporate challenges, though integration risks remain, particularly in aligning Normative’s project-based model with Greenly’s subscription-oriented business. The success of the deal will likely hinge on how smoothly these two operational cultures can be merged in the coming quarters.
